The polio attack in her childhood had delayed her marriage all these years. Last month, she attended a suyamvaram arranged by Chennai-based Geetha Bhavan trust (GBT) and TN handicapped federation and charitable trust (TNHFCT) and found a match. R. Srinivasan, a normal person, was quite happy with Ms Kalyani’s expectations and agreed for the marriage.
Both of them attended a series of counseling by doctors, advocates and disabled rights activists to lead a healthy married life.
Like Ms Kalyani and Mr Srinivasan, over 20 pairs, all differently-abled persons, attended the counseling and their marriages have been fixed for November 8, 2011 in Chennai.
