It is the season for big budgeted films starting with Thala’s Mankatha, to IlayathalapathyVijay’s Velayudham and to the recent Vikram’sRajapattai; producers are willing to shell out that extra cash.
Given that a song for the film Velayudham cost over Rs 2 crore how could director Suseendhran be left far behind? The director, it is believed, has spent nearly Rs 3 crore for shooting the climax scene of Rajapattai.
“Some producers are open to shooting an elaborate song sequence, as the song has the ability to catch a lot of attention, so it’s viable for them to shell out extra money, while some might try compromising if the movie is a low budget flick,” smiles Kalyan, who has made Ajith and Vikram dance to his tunes, literally.
If you thought going overboard and splurging money was restricted to songs alone, well you’re wrong. Costumes play a very important role in completing a film too.
If the sets are elaborate, it is important to make the artistes shine says film costumer designer, Anu. “High budget films demand a certain amount of styling such as Enthiran, for example.
